Thotti...Kuppai thotti...and No 10 Totti!
An appropriate caption in an appropriate banian for an appropriate person.
The number 10 just says that that tender care to these people is more important than conferring Bharath Rathna to Ten-dulkar

Safety signal from Southern Railways!
This is about the Flying Train that comes to Mylapore. Mind that we all come on it to Mylapore on several occasions. Don't you see something fishy in this picture? The signalling staff of the Southern Railway is either standing in the wrong platform for signalling the safety of the passengers boarding the train to the guard and the driver or....or the train has entered the wrong platform when the signalling staff is in the right platform!!

Where are the Mylapore Press?
The News that the best outgoing student of my school (Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya) died under mysterious circumstances shook one and all of us. When various rumors are doing round the press of Chennai and Mylapore are conspicuous by their absence. Why?

Mambalam lacks in sensibilities that Mylapore is good at
The tricolor fluttering atop this prominent building in T - Nagar certainly gives pride to all Indians. But it is not an honor to our National Flag to toil all through day and night without a purpose. It is also not legal! This picture was shot on 4th of May and effort was made to inform responsible people in the building of the fact. Though the assurance was given to do the amend, the flag was seen even week after it! Why no authorities have taken note of it?
Mambalam lacks in sensibilities that Mylapore is good at.
Disservice to Art and disloyal to the profession!!
Mylapore is the seat of traditional fine arts like Bharathanatyam and Sastriya sangeethams. The Mylapore Sabhas are nowadays are behind the classical dancers who are ready to pay their way for their chance. See what these dancers have done to this art. You can see in the above pictures that one of the dancer is dancing without any accompanying artistes! Yes she has chosen to do her steps to recorded music played from background!!
One of the Sabha secretary lamented that it is like playing cricket match with bowling machine for bowlers. The artistes see it as saving on their expense but fail to notice that they are doing it at the cost of the loss of value and esteem for this art. Moreover the artistes also think that they are paying unnecessarily to their Guru for the Nattuvangam rather than seeing it as Gurudakshina for supporting them to perform on the stage. Is it not disservice to the art and disloyalty to the profession?
Who is to blame for this? The artistes who do it or the Sabhas that permit it?

Barren Street
This is the last tree on the VC Garden 1st street. The street should have earned its name for its abundance of avenue trees. But now this last tree left also has given way for major housing construction. The Corporation representative of this locality should at least change the name of this street as Barren street!

Mylapore Premier Leagues
The Summer holiday becomes immediately evident as one starts making the evening walk in Mylapore! Yesterday I just maneuvered two cricket teams playing cricket in my street to enter the next. I was welcomed by a ball that dropped from heaven on to me. The sound in chorus of "Sister - Please throw up the ball sister" thundered and there I saw another team of predominantly girls and kids practicing their cricketing skill in their second floor terrace. Is there not abundant scope for Mylapore Premier League (MPL) as part of Mylapore Festival? Is ICC and BCCI making such a study?
